Quality assessments, performance, and emissions evaluation of biodiesel from citrullus lanatus oil seeds and diesel blends in compression ignition engine

Abstract: Due to limited stock of levels of fossil fuel resources and ecological issues, biodiesel is becoming an attractive alternative choice for replacing conventional fuels. Biodiesel can be used by mixing with different fuels like citrullus lanatus seeds, camphor, cleaner fuel injector, sunflower, safflower, soybean, cottonseed, rapeseed, palm, Jatropha, and Moringa oil seeds. This paper reviews use of biofuels blended with citrullus lanatus seeds. The citrullus lanatus biodiesel was mixed with diesel in different … Show more

“…This has led to a significant increase in industrial activities and consequently to a sharp rise in environmental pollutants, particularly air pollutants, namely CO2, SOx, NOx, UHC and PM, which are released into the atmosphere. These emissions mainly lead to destruction of the ozone layer, damage to the human respiratory system and the environment, deposition of acids and particulates, and impaired vision (Narayan et al, 2023;Islam et al, 2022). Climate change has brought about many environmental problems, including the emission of greenhouse gasses, especially CO2, which is produced by the large-scale combustion of fossil fuels (Nizami et al, 2018).…”

“…Greenhouse gas emissions are a major and dangerous threat to humans, animals and the environment, causing changes to the planet's climate (Narayan et al, 2023;Elkelawy et al, 2022;Rao et al, 2016). Compared to fossil fuels, the combustion of biodiesel can lead to a reduction of total UHC by more than 90% and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by 75% (Nogales-Delgado et al, 2021).…”
