ZusammenfassungIn diesem Beitrag wird nach den methodologischen Annahmen der Biografieforschung und deren Relevanz für die Erziehungswissenschaft in Form von Narrationen gefragt. Ausgehend von der Feststellung, dass zwischen Narrationen, der Biografieforschung und der Erziehungswissenschaft eine zweifache Wahlverwandtschaft besteht, wird zunächst die historische Entwicklung des Verhältnisses von Narrationen, Biografieforschung und Erziehungswissenschaft in groben Umrissen skizziert. Denn zum einen sind Narrationen die zentrale Grundlage für die in der Biografieforschung untersuchten lebensgeschichtlichen Erzählungen und zum anderen hat die Biografieforschung eine besondere Affinität zur Erziehungswissenschaft aufgrund der gemeinsamen Arbeitsfelder Bildung, Erziehung, Lernen und Sozialisation. Anschließend wird die Entwicklung der theoretischen Diskurse in der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Biografieforschung auch mit Blick auf die Nachbardisziplinen dargestellt und dabei danach gefragt, auf welche unterschiedlichen Theoriebezüge zurückgegriffen wird, um auf der Basis von Narrationen das Wechselverhältnis zwischen individuellen Bildungs- und Sozialisationsprozessen und gesellschaftlichen Strukturen untersuchen zu können. In einem weiteren Schritt wird am Beispiel von Beiträgen, die ausgehend von unterschiedlichen theoretischen und methodischen Ansätzen das gleiche narrative Interview interpretiert haben, exemplarisch aufgezeigt, mit welchen methodologischen Annahmen und methodischen Auswertungsstrategien sie zu ihren empirischen Ergebnissen gelangen und wie dabei das Theorie-Empirie-Verhältnis unterschiedlich ausgestaltet wird. Abschließend werden theoretische und methodische Herausforderungen diskutiert, die sich für die primär auf Narrationen beziehende erziehungswissenschaftliche Forschung zukünftig ergeben.
