Objective: To analyse the social representations of the professional autonomy of nurses and nursing for non-nursing health professionals. Methods: This is a qualitative study based on the theory of social representations. Fifty-three non-nursing professionals of a municipal hospital participated in this study. Data were collected between March and April 2015, from hierarchical free evocations using the inductor terms, "professional autonomy of nurses" and "nursing". The data were analysed using EVOC 2003. Results:The most likely core of the social representation of professional autonomy were the terms care, team, and responsibility. Moreover, the likely core of nursing comprises the elements care, team, responsibility, and work. Conclusions:The professional autonomy of nurses and nursing consists of fairly close objects of representation in the studied group, which makes them non-autonomous representations that are still sensitive to the incorporation of new elements. RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar as representações sociais da autonomia profissional do enfermeiro e da enfermagem para profissionais de saúde não enfermeiros.Métodos: Estudo qualitativo delineado pela abordagem estrutural das representações sociais. Participaram 53 profissionais de saúde não enfermeiros de um hospital municipal. A coleta de dados foi realizada de março a abril de 2015 e se deu através de evocações livres hierarquizadas, utilizando os termos indutores "autonomia profissional do enfermeiro" e, em seguida, "enfermagem". A análise de dados foi realizada pelo software EVOC 2003. Resultados:Figuraram como provável núcleo central da representação social da autonomia profissional os termos cuidado, equipe e responsabilidade. Por seu turno, o provável núcleo central da representação da enfermagem é composto pelos elementos cuidado, equipe, responsabilidade e trabalho. Conclusões:A autonomia profissional do enfermeiro e a enfermagem consistem em objetos de representação bastante próximos entre si para o grupo investigado, e, por isso, trata-se de representações não autônomas, ainda sensíveis à incorporação de novos elementos. The sample was composed of 44 persons of both sexes between the ages of 23 and 67 who carried the virus and were being monitored by the Testing and Advisory Center (cta, acronym in Portuguese). We collected data using a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. In general, the results indicated that these persons regard aids as a contagious disease, without cure and giving rise to many prejudices. Similarly, they see that the level of knowledge of aids is ambivalent.Keywords: social perception, aids, sexually transmitted disease, prejudice. Concepciones psicosociales sobre el conocimiento del sida de las personas que viven con vihResumen Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo principal identificar las concepciones psicosociales sobre el sida que tienen las personas que conviven con el vih. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 44 sujetos de ambos sexos portadores del virus, con edades entre los 23 y los 67 años, quienes estaban en seguimiento en el Centro de Pruebas y Asesoramiento (cpa). Para la recolección de datos fueron utilizados un cuestionario sociodemográfico y una entrevista semiestructurada. En general, los resultados apuntaron a que el sida es considerado por ellos como una enfermedad contagiosa, sin cura y que da lugar a muchos prejuicios. RESUMO: Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo analisar as representações sociais dos cuidados de enfermeiros e demais profissionais de saúde voltados às pessoas com o Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana e da Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida. Estudo descritivo, qualitativo, fundamentado na Teoria das Representações Sociais, realizado no sul do Brasil. Participaram, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, durante os meses de outubro de 2012 a abril de 2013, 19 profissionais de saúde. Na análise de conteúdo temática textual discursiva, emergiram duas categorias. O cuidado é representado como bom na dimensão diagnóstica e como difícil, incompleto, além de precário, na dimensão gerencial. Ainda, atualmente o empirismo da dimensão social do cuidado está em evidência, visto que a preocupação maior não está em torno da morte e sim das relações sociais. Conclui-se que a transformação das representações sociais das práticas profissionais de cuidado é evidente, permeada principalmente pela possibilidade de convivência com a doença. ABSTRACT: This qualitative, descriptive study drew on social representations theory to examine social representations among nurses and other health personnel of professional care practices directed to individuals with Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Semi-structured interviews of nineteen health professionals were conducted in southern Brazil between October 2012 and April 2013. Thematic category content analysis revealed two categories: care is represented as good in the diagnostic dimension, but difficult, incomplete and poor in the management dimension, and that a rule-of-thumb approach to the social dimension of care is currently in evidence, because the larger concern is not death, but social relationships. It was concluded that social representations of professional care practices are evidently changing, and are now permeated mainly by the possibility of living with the disease.
