In this paper, a flexible full-duplex antenna is proposed with robust performance and high isolation for 5.8 GHz using foam and PET paper. The patch of the antenna is modified by corner cut and inset feeding, while the defected ground structure is used to improve isolation between transmit and receive ports. Silver nanoparticle ink is used for printing the antenna in an inkjet printer. The fabricated version supports simulated results by showing acceptable performance in desired bandwidth. Bending tests and human body loading experiments are carried out on the fabricated antenna to demonstrate antenna's effectiveness for wearable applications. To the best of authors' knowledge, this is the first flexible full-duplex antenna designed, achieving a high isolation level of −50 dB. Moreover, wide bandwidth, improved gain, radiation efficiency, low cost, easy fabrication, and robust performance make it a good option for 5.8 GHz wearable applications.

A low-profile Octal element Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Multiple-Input–Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna based on a clamp structure designed for deployment within an intelligent digital entertainment network leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology is presented in this article. The single element antenna can operate over the UWB frequency band, i.e., from 3.1–10.6 GHz, accomplished by placing an extended stub on the ground. The octal antenna comprises eight monopole Antenna Elements (AEs) with clamp-shaped radiators and connected ground structures. The AEs are orthogonally oriented, and the Spiral-shaped Connected Ground Structure (SCGS) provides isolation greater than 20 dB. The results show that the antenna has an Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) and a Channel Capacity Loss (CCL) less than 0.02 and 0.3 bps/Hz and a Diversity Gain (DG) greater than 9.9 dB. Dual, quad and octal port antennas are simulated and fabricated to analyze the MIMO parameters with same ground structures. So, it has the potential to be scaled up to 64 elements or more by adopting the same ground structure.

In recent years, there has been a surge of interest in the field of wireless communication for designing a monitoring system to observe the activity of the human body remotely. With the use of wireless body area networks (WBAN), chronic health and physical activity may be tracked without interfering with routine lifestyle. This crucial real-time data transmission requires low power, high speed, and broader bandwidth communication. Ultrawideband (UWB) technology has been explored for short-range and high-speed applications to cater to these demands over the last decades. The antenna is a crucial component of the WBAN system, which lowers the overall system’s performance. The human body’s morphology necessitates a flexible antenna. In this article, we comprehensively survey the relevant flexible materials and their qualities utilized to develop the flexible antenna. Further, we retrospectively investigate the design issues and the strategies employed in designing the flexible UWB antenna, such as incorporating the modified ground layer, including the parasitic elements, coplanar waveguide, metamaterial loading, etc. To improve isolation and channel capacity in WBAN applications, the most recent decoupling structures proven in UWB MIMO technology are presented.
