QoS routing in ad hoc wireless networks

Abstract: The emergence of nomadic applications have recently generated a lot of interest in wireless network infrastructures which support multimedia services. In this paper, we propose a bandwidth routing algorithm for multimedia support in a multihop wireless network. This network can be interconnected to wired networks (e.g. ATM or Internet) or stand alone. Our bandwidth routing includes bandwidth calculation and reservation schemes. Under such a routing algorithm, we can derive a route to satisfy bandwidth requirem… Show more

“…See [23], [24] for examples of routing protocols employing this metric for pathselection. Node relative mobility/stability can be measuredas the ratio of the number of neighbours that change over axed period to the number that remainthe same [25]. For example, if all of the node'sneighbors are the same over axed period, thatnode is completely stable in that period, relative to its neighbors.…”

“…A VC mechanism is implemented at call setup to enable a fast reservation scheme, where TDMA slots are reserved to VCs. In [25], each node broadcasts its QoS information during the control phase, at the end of which each node knows the channel reservation status of the next information phase.…”
