QoS-enabled streaming of multiple description coded video over OpenFlow-based networks

Abstract: This paper examines the problem of quality enhancement for video streaming in OpenFlow-based network. OpenFlow can be used in future Internet; it can manage and perform routing for a large number of network flow. We employ OpenFlow to propose a routing mechanism to enhances quality of video streaming. We use expected video distortion as routing metric and apply multipath routing to Multiple Description Coded video. Our simulation results highlight the benefit of exploiting OpenFlow to transmit video.
