QED radiative corrections in processes of exclusive pion electroproduction

Abstract: Formalism for radiative correction (RC) calculation in exclusive pion electroproduction on the proton is presented. A FORTRAN code EXCLURAD is developed for the RC procedure. The numerical analysis is done in the kinematics of current Jefferson Lab experiments.

“…In this analysis we have corrected the cross sections for internal radiative effects using the approach developed by A. Afanasev et al [42] for exclusive electroproduction of pseudoscalar mesons. This approach uses a model cross section as input, and performs an exact calculation without relying on the usual peaking approximation or the separate treatment of soft and hard photon radiation.…”

“…The first was the exclusive approach based on the EXCLURAD program [51] and the second was based on the inclusive approach based on the GENEV program [46]. Comparison of the extracted radiative corrections between EXCLURAD and GENEV were within about 8% of each other.…”

“…The first uses the stand-alone program EXCLURAD [51] and the second uses the event generator GENEV [46] in combination with the CLAS Monte Carlo. The radiative correction factor that multiplies the measured bin-averaged differential cross section in each bin is defined as the ratio of the computed bin-averaged cross section with radiation off to that with radiation on.…”

“…The internal radiative correction, additional photon leg in Feynman diagram, was calculated using EXCLURAD [41,42] and applied to the measured differential cross section bin by bin before perform the fitting. EXCLURAD is a code written in fortran for calculating the radiative corrections to exclusive electroproduction of pions on a nucleon.…”
