QCD effects on direct detection of wino dark matter

Abstract: Abstract:We complete the calculation of the wino-nucleon scattering cross section up to the next-to-leading order in α s . We assume that the other sparticles are decoupled and wino interacts with the Standard Model particles via the weak interaction. As a result, the uncertainties coming from the perturbative QCD are significantly reduced to be smaller than those from the nucleon matrix elements. The resultant scattering cross section is found to be larger than the leading-order one by about 70%, which is wel… Show more

“…To test the dark matter in our model in the indirect detection experiments, it is quite important to evaluate its annihilation cross section precisely and compare it with that of the Majorana dark matter. The direct detection rate of the SU(2) L triplet dark matter is rather small; its scattering cross section with a nucleon is computed as σ SI 2 × 10 −47 cm 2 [159]. Still, it is in principle detectable in future experiments, which gives another way to test our model.…”

“…The computation of even dominant loop corrections to the SI cross-section is quite involved. The results are known only for neutralinos which are pure interaction eigenstates [37][38][39]. For a pure Higgsino LSP the radiatively corrected SI cross-section is of order O(10 −49 ) cm 2 so below the irreducible neutrino background.…”
