Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids

Joaquín Tamariz,
Eleuterio Burgueño-Tapia,
Miguel A. Vázquez
et al.

Abstract: Naturally occurring pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are isolated from plants and other sources. The interest of the scientific community in these compounds owes itself to their high toxicity and biological activity, as well as to the challenge of synthesizing their pyrrolizidine scaffold. This review encompasses a wide range of topics found in the literature from 1995 to date, including the occurrence, biosynthesis, toxicity (hepatotoxicity, genotoxicity, and tumorigenicity), biological activity, and pharmacolog… Show more

“…Розчинники використовували після звичайних методик очищення. Спектри 1 N-(β-поліфтороацил)вінілпохідних проліну 1a -g в трифтороцтовому ангідриді (TFAA). До розчину 5 ммоль N-(β-поліфтороацил)вінілпохідного амінокислоти в 20 мл CH 2 Cl 2 додавали 5,5 ммоль TFAA при перемішуванні за температури -20°C.…”

“…Relative to A-type hyacinthacines, both B and C-type alkaloids have greater constitutional complexity and as a result, have led to a greater number of insecure structural assignments. Synthetic work towards hyacinthacine A and B-type alkaloids has been included in a number of reviews [ 67 - 69 ], with a comprehensive analysis completed in 2012 by Pyne et al . [ 70 ].…”

“…Monocrotaline (MCT) is a pyrrolizidine alkaloid phytotoxin that is well established to cause hepatic toxicity in both animals and humans (21)(22)(23). Rats treated with MCT have been widely used as an in vivo model of hepatic VOD (24,25).…”
