Pyrene appended thymine derivative for selective turn-on fluorescence sensing of uric acid in live cells

Abstract: A new ‘turn-ON’ fluorescent probe, pyrene appended thymine acetamide (PTA), with high sensitivity and selectivity for the detection of uric acid (UA) was developed and first time imaging of uric acid in living cells in water was achieved.

“…But the problem arises when these existing methods show one or more drawbacks such as low response and sensitivity, limited selectivity, non-specificity and non-portability, difficulties in real time detection, false positive readings and operational complexity. The chemosensors mediated detection is an extremely convenient and simple method based on optical outputs such as color change or change in fluorescence intensity after the exposure to the target analytes 32 35 . Chemosensors make such detection method attractive and widely acceptable by fulfilling the key features of a practical sensing system i.e.…”

“…A disordered concentration of UA in the blood can lead to many diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular, kidney, liver, and Parkinson's disease. [14][15][16][17][18][19] The levels of serum UA are closely related to functional severity and have independent prognostic implications in PAH. [20][21][22] However, the mechanism of how UA affects PAH is still ambiguous.…”

“…In recent years certain analytical approaches have been reported for the detection and quantification of bio‐relevant metal ions, but many of them are associated with various crucial drawbacks . But chemosensors based on fluorescent and optical signaling method turn out to be a promising device owing to its remarkable selectivity and sensitivity, portability, low cost, instant responds, naked eye detection facilities to estimate metal ions in analytical, medical, environmental and biological fields . However the detection of Al is always challenging than the other metal ions due to its high hydration ability in water, poor coordination ability and lack of spectroscopic characterization, thus development of a simple but very precise chemosensor for Al detection is a significant domain of research.…”
