“…Although, diffuse light from a fixed light source is not sufficient to generate a SMPhP 3D model that can simultaneously depict superficial and deep anatomic structures such as the segments of the facial nerve because this light is insufficient to depict the finer details in the depth. For our purpose of refining a simple and easy-accessible SMPhP algorithm, we needed to avoid the use of a professional high-resolution digital single-lens reflex camera with ring flash 1,2,9 and manual segmentation of data. Contrary to our expectations, postprocessing of photographs depicting smaller structures, such as the frontal branch of the facial nerve and petrous segments, was not necessary for optimal visualization before uploading to the photogrammetry software.…”
