“…Fig.4A represents the effects of pH values on the GOD activity in the presence of glucose, guaiacol and HRP. The GOD activity increased with increasing pH value, and reached a maximum value at pH 5.8, which is close to the optimum pH value (pH5.5) for the native GOD from Aspergillus niger [18][19], indicates that the present GOD assay method does not change the optimum pH value of GOD. The repeatability of the assay was checked by determining the activity of GOD sample repeatly, and the mean value of the GOD activity was calculated to be 114 ± 3U/mg using Eq.3 (see also Fig.4B), with a relative standard deviation (R.S.D) of 2.8% for 31 measurements.…”

“…The GOD used in this study is a dimer of two identical subunits with a molecular weight of 160 kDa. 5 The dimer contains two disulfide bonds and two free sulfhydryl groups. Using hydroquinone (HQ)/1,4-benzoquinone (BQ) redox couple as an electron mediator, 6 the inactivation of GOD can be followed by the time-dependent decrease in the HQ/BQ-mediated bioelectrocatalytic current.…”

“…The enzyme contains one tightly, noncovalently bound FAD cofactor per monomer and is a homodimer with a molecular mass of 160 kDa, depending on the extent of glycosylation (1). Glucose oxidase from Aspergillus niger is glycosylated by neutral sugars (mostly mannose-like sugars) and by amino sugars (2). Several reports find that the sugar content may vary from 11 up to 30% (3)(4)(5).…”
