The purpose of this work is to evaluate the homology modeling, in silico prediction, and characterisation of Cytochrome c oxidase from Cyprinus carpio and Tubifex tubifex, as well as molecular docking experiments between the modelled protein and three frequently used surfactants. Using the template crystal structure of bovine heart Cytochrome c oxidase, homology modeling of Cytochrome c oxidase (Subunit 2) of Cyprinus carpio (Accession # P24985) and Cytochrome c oxidase (Subunit 1) of Tubifex tubifex (Accession # Q7YAA6) was conducted. The model structure was improved further with 3Drefine, and the final 3D structure was verified with PROCHEK and ERRATA. The physiochemical, as well as the stereochemical parameters of the modelled protein, were evaluated using various tools like ExPASy’s ProtParam, Hydropathy Analysis and EMBOSS pepwheel. The projected model was then docked with toxic ligands, Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), and Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), whose 3D structures were obtained from the Uniprot database. CPC interacted best with Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 of Cyprinus carpio and Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 of Tubifex tubifex, according to our findings. Furthermore, in the case of all surfactants, hydrophobic interactions with the active site amino acid residues of the modelled protein were observed to be more common than hydrogen bonds and salt bridges. Molecular simulation studies exhibited that the surfactants alter the structural flexibility of the predicted proteins. Hence it may be inferred that the surfactants might alter the structure and dynamics of Cytochrome c oxidase of both worm and fish.

Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis attacking the lungs and other organs, is one of the most common infectious disease worldwide. According to the WHO's 2020 report, a quarter of the world's population were infected with M. tuberculosis, and ~1.4 million people died of TB. Therefore, TB is a significant public health concern, which requires cost-effective strategies for prevention and treatment. The microbiota has been considered as a “forgotten organ” and a complex dynamic ecosystem, which plays a significant role in many physiological processes, and its dysbiosis is closely associated with infectious disease. Recently, a few studies have indicated associations between TB and microbiota. This review summarizes studies concerning the alterations of the gut and respiratory microbiota in TB, and their relationship with host susceptibility to M. tuberculosis infection, indicating that microbiota signatures in different stages in TB progression could be considered as biomarkers for TB diagnosis and control. In addition, the potential role of probiotics and postbiotics in TB treatment was discussed.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the main reason of cancer linked mortality and around 80% of cases diagnosed in advanced stage. Therefore current study designed to evaluate the deregulation of miRNA-194 and miRNA-192 in different body fluid of Non small cell lung cancer participants. Present study recruited newly diagnosed histopathologically confirmed. It was observed that the 40% NSCLC participants showed elevated miR-194 expression and 60% NSCLC participants showed reduced miR-194 expression in serum sample while in Bronchial wash, only 20% NSCLC participants showed elevated miR-194 expression while 80% showed reduced miR-194 expression (p = 0.003). It was found that the 54% NSCLC participants showed elevated miR-192 expression and 55% NSCLC participants showed reduced miR-192 expression in serum sample while In Bronchial wash sample, only 25% NSCLC participants showed high miR-192 expression while 75% showed low miR-192 expression (P = 0.0004). Expression of miR-194 was significantly associated with TNM stages (p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001), distant organ metastases (p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001), pathological grade (p = 0.0009, p = 0.0005) among serum sample and bronchial wash sample. Same observation was found with expression of miR-192 and it was significantly associated with TNM stages (p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001), distant organ metastases (p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001), pathological grade (p = 0.006, p = 0.001) among serum sample and bronchial wash sample. It was observed that the NSCLC participants who had high serum based miR-194 expression showed 22 months of overall median survival while low expression of serum based miR-194 expression showed 18 months of overall median survival. Present study suggests that decreased expression of miR-194 and miR-192 was significantly associated with different clinical features of NSCLC cases. However, significantly higher number of NSCLC cases showed low expression of miR-194 and miR-192 in bronchial lavage sample. Decreased poor overall survival was found to be associated with bronchial wash sample with respect to low miR-194 and miR-192 expression while NSCLC participants showed better overall survival with high miR-194 and miR-192 expression. This suggested decreased expression of miR-192 and miR-194 expression could be the potential prognostic marker among NSCLC participants.
