“…1,2 One question that arises is whether the pairing symmetry is affected by doping. The symmetry of the superconducting order parameter for the optimally doped HTS's is consistent with d x 2 Ϫy 2( d-wave͒ as found in angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy 3,4 ͑ARPES͒ experiments on Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8ϩ␦ ͑Bi-2212͒ and tricrystal ring 5,6 experiments on YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7Ϫx and Tl 2 Ba 2 CuO 6ϩ␦ . The possibility of gap symmetry conversion from d-wave to s-wave with overdoping of Bi-2212 is suggested by Kendziora et al 7 and Kelley et al 8 using Raman and ARPES studies respectively.…”

“…As most of the research effort has focused on the optimal/underdoped regime, in an attempt to understand the connection between MottHubbard insulating behavior and superconductivity, the study of heavily overdoped Tl2201 represents an important alternative approach. At this stage, it has already been established that near optimal doping Tl2201 exhibits a few key features common to most cuprates, such as a d x 2 −y 2 superconducting (SC) gap [4] and the (π,π) magnetic resonant mode [5]. Additionally, in the very overdoped regime a coherent three-dimensional Fermi surface (FS) was observed in angular magnetoresistance oscillations measurements (AMRO) [6].…”

“…Experiments on Tl 2 Ba 2 CuO 6+δ , a material with unbuckled, widely spaced CuO 2 layers and a maximum T c around 90 K, have therefore played a pivotal role in resolving some issues central to our understanding of these materials (1,2). We report inelastic neutron scattering measurements of Tl 2 Ba 2 CuO 6+δ near optimum doping (T c ∼ 90 K) that provide evidence of a sharp magnetic resonant mode below T c .…”
