“…(Goldberg, 2004) Infidelity remains a prevalent topic within the couple therapy literature and has been identified as a common and challenging clinical problem for both clients and practitioners (Gordon, Baucom, & Snyder, 2008). The latter becomes more pronounced when considering the potential fallout associated with infidelity (e.g., Panek, 1994). For example, reactions to infidelity could conceivably range from indifference to extreme reactions including family disruption (Lusterman, 2005), spouse revenge filicide (Rougé-Maillar, Jousset, Gaudin, Bouju, & Penneau, 2005;West, Friedman, & Resnick, 2009), manslaughter (Sherman & Hoffmann, 2007), murder-suicide (Eliason, 2009), suicide or murder (Scheinkman, 2005), and psychological disorders (Cano & O'Leary, 2000).…”
