Pulse Transmission across a Single Optical Ring-Resonator with Negative Group Velocity: Theory and Experiment

Abstract: Abstract-We study pulse transmission across a single optical ring-resonator circuit theoretically. The theory is supported by experimental measurements. From the study, we discuss intuitively the fulfillment of the causality rules in negative delay phenomenon, which occurs when the circuit possesses a negative group velocity.

“…We should note, that this power splitter is part of a larger structure which is used for sensing applications. 1 Description of the other parts of the structure is beyond the scope of this paper and will be discussed elsewhere. Parts of the structural cross-section parameters are related to the design choice of the larger system.…”

“…for the interferometric readout of phase-shifts in a slow-light sensor. 1 For such a purpose, a device capable of precisely meeting the required splitting of optical power is desired to get a good visibility of the interference fringes, since the light passing through the sensing branch will suffer from large loss as a consequence of the slow-light phenomenon being utilized there. 2 To cope with the fabrication uncertainties and a variety of application, requirements for an actively tunable power splitter is highly desirable.…”
