Pulse Electric Current–Aided Reactive Sintering of High‐Purity Zr3Al3C5

Abstract: Herein, we report on the in situ reactive synthesis and simultaneous densification of a high-purity ternary Zr 3 Al 3 C 5 phase via pulse electric current sintering (PECS) of Zr/Al/graphite powder mixtures with a molar ratio of 3:3.2:4.8. The phases and microstructure evolution in the 580°C-1800°C temperature range were characterized by X-ray diffraction, real-time sintering curves, and a scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive spectroscope. An additive-free, fully dense Zr 3 Al 3 C 5 c… Show more

“…[ 34] The exfoliation process of Zr3Al3C5 was implemented by using concentrated hydrofloric (HF) acid. The structural, electronic and elastic properties of the as-exfoliated nanosheets were investigated combined with first-principles density functional calculations.…”

“…Then Inspired by the great success in synthesizing a large group of MXenes, researchers continued to focus their attention on the quest for novel Al-containing MAX phases. [162][163][164] Huang et al, [165] for the first time, presented the preparation of a Zr-containing 2D carbide…”
