Quality healthcare relies on our practitioners and their health services to provide the optimal standard of care. To support current practice, we need to embed a research culture in all health professions. 1 Undertaking research helps gather the evidence to provide solutions to clinical problems, thus consolidating best practice. The Australian Government has supported this initiative with establishment of research positions in allied health to build and develop a research culture. 1-3 Often underpinned by policy and governance development, 4 healthcare institutions participating in research are more efficient, and have significant impact upon patient outcomes. 5 A requirement of clinical research positions is to establish a research culture and present completed clinical research performed to a wider audience.
