Abstract:Maintaining forest health is a worldwide challenge due to emerging tree diseases, shifts in climate conditions and other global change stressors. Research on forest health is thus accumulating rapidly, but there has been little use of scientometric approaches in forest pathology and dendrology. Scientometrics is the quantitative study of trends in the scientific literature. As with all tools, scientometrics needs to be used carefully (e.g., by checking findings in multiple databases) and its results must be interpreted with caution. In this overview, we provide some examples of studies of patterns in the scientific literature related to forest health and tree pathogens. Whilst research on ash dieback has increased rapidly over the last years, papers mentioning the Waldsterben have become rare in the literature. As with human health and diseases, but in contrast to plant health and diseases, there are consistently more publications mentioning "tree health" than "tree disease," possibly a consequence of the often holistic nature of forest pathology. Scientometric tools can help balance research attention towards understudied emerging risks to forest trees, as well as identify temporal trends in public interest in forests and their health.

Aim: This study is to understand and analyze the publication productivity as one of the important scientometric indicators of HEI's performance in Malaysia for duration time of 20 years. Method: This study conducted the scientometric analysis of the research productivity performance of Malaysia's researchers from June 1995 to June 2015 using Scopus database. All type' field in the search box where chosen and the chosen keyword is 'Malaysia'. All related papers are extracted, retrieved and compiled into the personal database in Microsoft Excel. Pre-processing task such as data cleaning were done and with total of 290 093 publications records was identified. These publications records included all type of documents such as articles, conference, review paper, book chapter and books. Result: The remarkably numbers of publication growth from 1995 to 2015. There are huge development of research happens in these 20 years in Malaysia with only 1,610 publication in 1995 increased to 180,797 publication in 2015. Subject area of pure science dominated the percentage of publication such as engineering with 15% from total and the small percentage with total of 5% comes from pure science as well which are physic and astronomy. Conclusion: The increase in publication productivity is a sign of good R&D that is actively happened in this country. This has a positive impact towards Malaysia as well as the related institutions in order to introduce and stamp their name to the world. Therefore, the numbers of collaboration with others countries especially with European countries and America is worth to emphasize. Nonetheless, we understand that there are numbers of factors that associated in producing the publication that can be barriers to the authors such as personal factors, environment factors and behavioral factors.

Osredotoča se na značilnosti objavljanja v znanstvenih revijah zaradi njihove vloge pri razvoju znanstvene discipline, področja in strokovne terminologije. Četudi gozdarstvo, lesarstvo in papirništvo sestavljajo gozdno lesno verigo, raziskave večinoma zajemajo le gozdarstvo in ugotavljajo široko interdisciplinarnost področja na eni strani in ozko usmerjenost raziskav. Primerjave objav znotraj gozdno lesne verige otežuje tudi vpliv različnih šifrantov znanosti, kar vpliva tudi na položaj teh področij znanosti. Zajete raziskave se večinoma osredotočajo na objave v revijah, indeksiranih v zbirkah �oS in Scopus, revije pa posamezne zbirke združujejo v posamezna področja. Nekaj raziskav prinaša tudi ugotovitve na ravni posameznih ustanov ali držav. Objavljanje znanstvenih člankov s teh področij ima velik vpliv na nadaljnji razvoj in tudi obstoj revij, predvsem revij manjših jezikovnih skupin. Velik delež gozdarskih objav je najti v revijah drugih znanstvenih področij, kar nakazuje tako na veliko interdisciplinarnost področja in sodelovanje avtorjev različnih področij kot tudi na določen vpliv sistema vrednotenja raziskovalnih dosežkov.Ključne besede: bibliometrija, gozdarstvo, lesarstvo, papirništvo, raziskovalna politika, vrednotenje raziskovalnih dosežkov ABSTRACTThis article presents an overview of bibliometric research in the scientific fields of forestry, wood and paper sciences and highlights the characteristics of publishing in these areas, particularly those that affect the results of the evaluation process and, consequently, the development of these fields. Articles published in scholarly journals are considered important for the development of the scientific field and professional terminology, therefore the review focuses mainly on the specifics in the area of scientific publishing. Although forestry, wood and paper science comprise a single wood value chain, publications mainly cover only the forestry as a result of the interdisciplinary areas, different science classification schemes, narrow research areas, their role in the society.
