Pt-doped TiO2-based sensors for detecting SF6 decomposition components

Abstract: Detection of partial discharge and analysis of SF 6 gas components in gas-insulated switchgear are important for diagnosis and operating state assessment of power equipment. The gas-sensing properties of the existing TiO 2 nanotube (TiO 2 NT) array-based and the Pt-doped TiO 2 NT-based sensors were investigated for the components of SF 6 decomposition. Four sensors with different amounts of Pt-doped TiO 2 NTs are prepared using constant current method. The sensing responses of the sensors to the main decomposi… Show more

“…Bastakoti et al [98] found that the introduction of platinum (Pt) on the surface of the mesoporous TiO 2 increased the sensor's sensitivity to acetaldehyde at room temperature, as well as, the sensor exhibited a higher adsorption rate and excellent absorption of acetaldehyde adsorption compared to pure mesoporous TiO 2 . The use of Pt in TiO 2 is also reported as a noble metal that favors the sensitivity of TiO 2 for the detection of other gases [99,100]. Xing et al [101] synthesized via hydrothermal method (5.67).…”

“…As to TiO 2 , Zhang's group [50,[110][111][112][113][114][115][116][117][118][119][120] did systemic research to explore its application in this field, from both experimental and theoretical aspects. In terms of experiment, pristine, Pt-and Audoped TiO 2 were synthesised to study their sensing property upon SO 2 , SOF 2 and SO 2 F 2 .…”

“…Sulfur hexafluoride (SF 6 ) as a widely used insulating medium in GIS due to its excellent insulating and arc-extinguishing properties [4,5]. Despite of the high reliability of GIS equipment, some internal defects could still lead to different degrees of partial discharge (PD) when the GIS equipment has been running for a long time [6]. When exposed to the energy of partial discharges, the SF 6 gas in GIS equipment could decompose and generate SF 4 , SF 3 , and SF 2 [7], as well as various low-fluorine sulfides.…”
