Abstract

Lifestyle illnesses include psychosomatic complaints and disorders in which the demands of the modern performance-oriented society, in particular, permanent occupational stress and excessive stimulation, are the main triggering or maintaining conditions (Harth and Hillert 2007).Typical dermatological complaints include anxiety sweat in the hyperhidrosis consultation, food intolerances in the allergy consultation (eco-syndromes), lifestyle impotence with fears of failure in the andrological consultation, or fear of ugliness in the aesthetic consultation (Table 1).Young, apparently healthy, efficient, and successful people are increasingly affected by lifestyle diseases. Furthermore, there is a purely somatic therapy expectation. Demanding the treatment of healthy people puts the doctor under emotional pressure in the ambivalence between pressure and non-existent indication. Frequent and typical clinical pictures are described in the following sections.
