Psychometric properties of the transaddiction craving triggers questionnaire in alcohol use disorder

Abstract: Objectives We aimed to develop the transaddiction craving triggers questionnaire (TCTQ), which assesses the propensity of specific situations and contexts to trigger craving and to test its psychometric properties in alcohol use disorder (AUD). Methods This study included a sample of 111 AUD outpatients. We performed exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and calculated item–dimension correlations. Internal consistency was measured with Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Construct validity was assessed through Spearman … Show more

“…Items were attributed to the dimension for which they had the highest loads; exceptions were: (1) when two loads were close, where the a priori dimension could be retained, or (2) when several loads were close, where the item could be attributed to the most relevant dimension. Items with loadings below 0.40 were removed from subsequent analyses and the exploratory factor analysis was repeated [ 23 ].…”

“…The literature about the relationship between the various sub-dimensions of impulsivity and alcohol-related behaviours remains conflicting. Previous studies did not always report a stronger relationship for sensation seeking relative to other dimensions of impulsivity and AUDIT scores (Thomsen et al, 2018;Flaudias et al, 2019aFlaudias et al, , 2019b or alcohol craving (von Hammerstein et al, 2020). Very few studies investigated the correlations between the impulsivity dimensions and alcohol attentional biases (Coskunpinar and Cyders, 2013).…”

“…The systematization of affective disorders at the neurotic level from the existing taxonomy gives prestige to only a part of the neg ative affect, which have been classified as some type of isolated disorder such as Anxiety or Depression, for example very frequent in addictions [6,7]. Depression, for example, varies in intensity and more personal forms of expression.…”

“…Depression, for example, varies in intensity and more personal forms of expression. Practice shows that this disorder is usually associated with other negative emotions such as anger, jealousy, guilt, resentment, which, although they are not nosological entities, make up the psychopathological clinical picture, feed anguish and have practical value for designing psychotherapy [6,7]. However, this set of negative emotions tends to escape traditional psychopathological characterizations.…”
