Psychometric Properties of The Persian Version of Short-Form Five Factor Borderline Inventory (FFBI-SF)

Abstract: Background The Five-Factor Borderline Inventory-Short Form (FFBI-SF) is a self-report measure developed to assess traits of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) from the perspective of the Five-Factor Model of general personality. This study was designed to examine the factor structure, internal consistency, and convergent/discriminant validity of the Persian FFBI-SF in a sample of Iranian university students. Methods A total of 641 university students (M-age = 28.04, SD = 8.21, 66.7% women) completed the o… Show more

“…The ESEMs indicated good fits for the three-and two-factor models according to the prescribed criteria (Hooper et al, 2008), although those for the three-factor model appeared superior. These results are in line with past studies corroborating the three-factor latent structure (e.g., Bahrami & Safarloo, 2023;Dai et al, 2021;Jauk et al, 2023). However, the stronger relationship between Antagonism and Agentic Extraversion suggests a bias in the "centrality" of Antagonism.…”

“…Strong correlations between the FFNI-SF-F factors and their corresponding FFM factors (Extraversion, Neuroticism, and Agreeability) were obtained, similarly to other studies (e.g., Jauk et al, 2023;Miller et al, 2016), supporting its construct validity. The moderate association observed between FFNI-SF-F Agentic Extraversion and NEO-FFI-F Extraversion was slightly lower than that obtained in other validations (e.g., Bahrami & Safarloo, 2023;Jauk et al, 2023), and a low negative correlation between FFNI-SF-F Agentic Extraversion and NEO-FFI-F Agreeableness was observed. This is, however, consistent with the moderate correlation obtained between the FFNI-SF-F Agentic Extraversion and FFNI-SF-F Antagonism latent factors in the ESEM, highlighting the "biased centrality" of Antagonism.…”
