Psychometric properties and CAT performance of the PROMIS pediatric sleep disturbance, sleep-related impairment, and fatigue item banks in Dutch children and adolescents.

Abstract: This study’s aim is to evaluate the psychometric properties of the pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) sleep disturbance (SD), sleep-related impairment (SRI), and fatigue item banks in Dutch children and adolescents since they are yet to be validated in this population. “…The US item parameters were used in the CAT algorithm and Tscore calculations, as by PROMIS convention. The PROMIS pediatric item banks and scales have previously been validated in the Dutch population (Klaufus et al, 2021;Luijten et al, 2022;Luijten, van Litsenburg, et al, 2021;Peersmann et al, 2022;van Muilekom et al, 2021)…”

“…Several other item banks measuring core domains of health have also been validated in Dutch (general or clinical) populations, such as the PROMIS anxiety, depression, pain interference, physical function, upper extremity function, fatigue, and participation item banks (Crins et al, 2015; Crins et al, 2017; Flens et al, 2017; Flens et al, 2019; Lameijer et al, 2020; Terwee et al, 2019; Terwee et al, 2022), and the commonly used PROMIS Global Health (Pellicciari et al, 2021) and PROMIS‐29 (Elsman et al, 2022). PROMIS sleep item banks have also been developed and validated for children (Forrest et al, 2018; Peersmann et al, 2022). The Dutch‐Flemish PROMIS National Center offers consultation and software for implementing PROMIS in research and clinical practice in the Netherlands (http://www.dutchflemishpromis.nl).…”
