The integration of psychological services in medical settings has numerous benefits but a process for systematic integration and system wide evaluation is needed. A process model was created and evaluated for integrating services in 32 outpatient subspecialty clinics. Levels of satisfaction in caregivers ( n = 98), physicians ( n = 27), and non-physicians ( n = 45) were assessed. Most caregivers rated psychology services at the highest level of satisfaction (85%) and would recommend these services to others (100%). Teammates indicated that services should continue in their clinic (85% non-physician; 96% physician) and have improved patient care (71% non-physician; 81% physician). These findings demonstrate positive outcomes associated with the process model and support its utility in integrating psychology services across a health system.

Health service psychologists increasingly function as leaders within organizations and consequently engage in the evaluation of others, including other psychologists. Although psychologists may intend to engage in unbiased and fair evaluation practices, conducting truly equitable evaluations is challenging and may require professional development and ongoing reflective practices. This article first highlights the roles, responsibilities, and challenges psychologists will face in ensuring socially responsive evaluation across practice contexts. Specific tools from the CCTC 2020: Social Responsiveness in Health Service Psychology Education and Training Toolkit (Council of Chairs of Training Councils, 2021) are introduced as mechanisms to better ensure psychologists engage in fair evaluation practices. The article concludes with illustrative cases that demonstrate unjust evaluation practices which can be addressed by using toolkit activities to strengthen relationships and prevent unfair evaluation practices.

Studies of leadership have identified several key traits and skills among successful leaders, including honesty, emotional intelligence, setting a vision, effective communication, and interest in providing feedback and developing others. These attributes, in addition to specific knowledge and skills related to health care systems, medical education, and effective team dynamics can propel behavioral scientists to success in graduate medical education. Whether or not it was labeled directly as leadership development, many behavioral scientists have had specific training in these core competencies, creating a potential for them to excel in leadership positions. We outline strategies for behavioral scientists to identify their leadership strengths, areas for growth, and pathways to seek opportunities for leadership within their programs or other avenues in medical education.
