Abstract:Arson is a crime closely correlated with mental illness. There are different motives for Arson. These motives can be categorized broadly as psychological or nonpsychological, although there is considerable overlap. The psychological motives can be further separated based on the nature of the mental state of the individual at the time of the crime. This article outlines said motives and the overlap between Arson and mental illness.
