“…There are several approaches to case formulation in psychodynamic assessment and therapy (Eells, 2007). These range from open-ended and comprehensive analysis of interpersonal and intrapersonal functioning (e.g., see Cabaniss, Cherry, Douglas, Graver, & Schwartz, 2013; Messer & Wolitzky, 2007) to approaches that focus on specific aspects of personality functioning (e.g., the Core Conflictual Relationship Theme [CCRT]; Luborsky, 1998 and the Cyclical Maladaptive Patters [CMP]; Schacht, Binder, & Strupp, 1984). Many of the psychodynamic formulations are grounded in the psychotherapeutic intervention they suggest, therefore binding personality understanding with treatment focus and treatment intervention in a way that does not support the clinical focus of CBT interventions.…”
