Abstract:Purpose/Objective(s): Human papillomavirus (HPV) has been implicated in the carcinogenesis of squamous cell carcinoma of the anal canal (SCCA). As seen for other body sites, HPV-negative tumors have been associated with poor prognosis in patients with SCCA.
