Abstract:MELAS (Mitochondrial Encephalopathy Lactic Acidosis and Stroke-like episodes) syndrome is a condition characterized by mitochondrial encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes. It is a rare, inherited, neurodegenerative disorder caused by mitochondrial dysfunction that leads to energy production disturbances.
