The transition from a hierarchy-based approach to therapy, in which the counselor is seen as an objective observer of the client's life; to an egalitarian counselor-client relationship-based therapy approach, which holds the client in their strengths, focuses on what the solution is, and sees the client as an expert, is a radical paradigm shift in the field of psychology. The background of this change in psychology's perspective, based on the questioning of modernism's belief that truth, knowledge and reality are universal and valid beyond all times and places. These inquiries have given birth to the postmodernist paradigm, which argues that knowledge and truth are multiple, complex and relative, that knowledge is interpreted and constructed between people. Postmodernism, which has effects in many fields such as art, architecture, cinema and literature; has led to radical changes psychology’s view on human nature, the counselor-client relationship and the therapy process. This study aims to examine modernism and postmodernism from a historical perspective, and then to discuss the reflections of postmodernism on the field of psychology. In order to achieve this aim, first of all, the emergence of modernism, its epistemology, its basic assumptions and the reflections of modernism on psychology are discussed. Afterwards, the social and epistemological changes which occured in the transition from modernism to postmodernism were examined. After examining the epistemology and assumptions of postmodernism in comparison with modernism; the general characteristics of postmodern therapies and their perspective on human nature, therapy process and counselor-client relationship are discussed. The study further provides recommendation for future directions inTurkish counseling and therapy contetxs.

Film ve dizilerde canlandırılan psikoterapi sahneleri aracılığıyla terapötik süreçleri ve müdahaleleri incelemek, kuramları farklı perspektiften analiz etmek ve bunları psikolojik danışman eğitiminde kullanmak mümkündür. Bu araştırmada terapi sahneleri bakımından zengin veriler sunan “In Treatment” dizisinde kullanılan terapötik becerilerin ve sağlanan terapötik koşulların metin analizi yöntemi ile incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu araştırmada elde edilen veriler betimsel analize tabi tutulmuştur. Veriler analiz edildiğinde terapistin en sık başvurduğu becerinin kişiselleştirme becerisi en çok sağlanan terapötik koşulun ise ilişkinin şimdi ve buradalığı olduğu görülmektedir. Bunun yanında terapistin konuşmaya açık davet, kendini açma, bağlama, koşulsuz kabul, yüzleştirme, yansıtma, somutlaştırma, saydamlık, yapılama, empati, özetleme, amaç belirleme, bilgilendirme ve sessizlik beceri ve koşullara da başvurduğu saptanmıştır. Danışanın ise terapiste yoğun bir direnç gösterdiği, eşi, çocuğu, babası ve yakın arkadaşı ile yaşadığı ilişki ve sorunlarından bahsettiği, yer yer kendi hakkında içgörü kazandığı ancak çoğunlukla farkındalık kazanmaktan kaçındığı, kimi zaman terapist ile sorunlar yaşadığı ve son olarak terapiyi yarıda bıraktığı görülmektedir. Filmlerde yer alan terapi sahnelerinin analiz edildiği bu araştırmalar eğitim sürecinde, yaşanan problemleri somutlaştırmada ve profesyonellere çeşitli bakış açıları kazandırmada alanyazına çok büyük katkılar sunmaktadır.

Duygular insan deneyimi için merkezi ve önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. Hem bireysel hem de toplumsal gelişme için sağlıklı duygusal yaşamlar bir ön koşuldur. Bu çalışmanın amacı Kesebir ve diğerleri tarafından geliştirilen Duygusal Stil Ölçeğinin Türk kültürü için geçerlik ve güvenirliğini incelemektir. Duygusal Stil Ölçeğinin yapı geçerliği ilk olarak Açımlayıcı Faktör Analizi (AFA) daha sonra ise Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi (DFA) ile incelenmiştir. Ölçeğin güvenirliği Cronbach α iç tutarlık güvenirlik katsayısı ile tespit edilmiştir. Açımlayıcı Faktör Analizi çalışma grubu 168 kadın (%53.3) 147 erkek (%46.7) ve olmak üzere toplam 315 üniversite öğrencisi, Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi çalışma grubu 160 kadın (%53.7) ve 138 erkek (%46.3) olmak üzere toplam 298 üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. AFA sonuçları incelendiğinde Duygusal Stil Ölçeği’nin 18 madde ve 5 alt boyuttan oluştuğu görülmüştür. DFA sonucu ölçeğin beş faktörden oluşan yapısının model uyum indekslerinin iyi düzeyde olduğu saptanmıştır. Güvenirlik analiz değerlerine göre ölçeğin Cronbach α iç tutarlık güvenirlik katsayısı ölçeğin tamamı için .79 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin güvenirlilik analizinde Cronbach alfa iç tutarlık katsayısı ile test-tekrar test korelasyon değerlerinin kabul edilebilir düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular sonucunda Duygusal Stil Ölçeğinin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olarak bireylerin duygusal boyutlarının incelenmesinde kullanılabileceği saptanmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre hem uygulama hem de araştırma alanlarına yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
