Pseudomonas hussainii sp. nov., isolated from droppings of a seashore bird, and emended descriptions of Pseudomonas pohangensis, Pseudomonas benzenivorans and Pseudomonas segetis

Abstract: Two Gram-staining-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacterial strains that are motile by a monopolar flagellum, designated CC-AMH-11(T) and CC-AMHZ-5, were isolated from droppings of a seashore bird off the coast of Hualien, Taiwan. The strains showed 99.7% mutual pairwise 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, while exhibiting <96.2% sequence similarity to strains of other species of the genus Pseudomonas (95.7-95.9% similarity with type species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa LMG 1242T), and formed a dist… Show more

“…The DNA G+C content of strain CC-MHH0089 T was 63.6±0.5 mol%, which is within the range (55.3–67.9 mol%) reported from some species of the genus Pseudomonas (Liu et al , 2013; Lin et al , 2013a, b; Clark et al , 2006; Feng et al , 2012; Hameed et al , 2014). The polar lipid profile of strain CC-MHH0089 T was similar to those of P. azotifigens JCM 12708 T and P. balearica BCRC 17184 T with respect to the presence of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylglycerol, which is in agreement with data published previously for species of the genus Pseudomonas (Pascual et al , 2012; Lin et al , 2013a, b; Liu et al , 2013; Hameed et al , 2014). In addition, moderate amounts of phosphatidylcholine and an unidentified phospholipid were also detected, though there were some quantitative differences ().…”

“…Hence, we are proposing to integrate Oblitimonas with Thiopseudomonas and transfer P. caeni into this genus as a new name combination. P. hussainii is another deep-branching species [58], which lies outside of the main cluster of species of the genus Pseudomonas. This species is assigned into Pseudomonas_L clade by the GTDB webserver [29].…”

“…The description of this species is as given by Hwang et al [66] for Pseudomonas pelagia. Cells are Gram-stain negative, aerobic, motile by means of a monopolar flagellum, non-spore-forming, chemoheterotrophic and mesophilic [58]. Growth occurs at 15-40 °C (optimum, 30-37 °C), at pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and on R2A agar supplemented with 0-5 % NaCl (optimum, 1%).…”

“…The description is as given for Pseudomonas hussainii [ 55 ] with the following modification. The genomic G + C is 58.8% and its genomic size is approximately 3.68 Mbp.…”
