Pseudomonas boanensis sp. nov., a bacterium isolated from river water used for household purposes in Boane District, Mozambique

Abstract: A Gram-negative rod with a single polar flagellum was isolated from a freshwater reservoir used for household purposes in Boane District, near Maputo, Mozambique, and designated as strain DB1T. Growth was observed at 30–42 °C (optimum, 30–37 °C) and with 0.5–1.5 % NaCl. Whole-genome-, rpoD- and 16S rRNA-based phylogenies revealed this isolate to be distant from other Pseudomonas species with … Show more

“…Sm006 T (Table 1). The data for the latter five strains were retrieved from Yamada et al [30], Nicklasson et al [31], Thorat et al [32], Kimura et al [33] and Anurat et al [34] for comparison. Sm006 T was cultured routinely at 27 °C on standard methods agar (plate count agar) plates (Nissui) and tested for the phenotypic characteristics, as described below.…”

“…The genus Pseudomonas , belonging to the family Pseudomonadaceae , was first proposed by Migula [13]. Pseudomonas can be found in various environments such as soil [14], rivers [15], humans [16] and hydrocarbon-contaminated environments [16]. According to the List of Prokaryotic Names with Standing in Nomenclature (https://lpsn.dsmz.de/genus/pseudomonas), the genus Pseudomonas comprises 313 species with validly published names.…”
