Pseudocyst of the Auricle: A Histologic Perspective

Abstract: Pseudocyst of the auricle is a benign condition predominantly affecting young Asian males. Histology characteristically reveals an intracartilaginous cyst devoid of epithelial lining, and there are no pathognomonic features. We postulate that an inflammatory response is crucial to the development of this condition on the basis of a consistent perivascular inflammatory response seen in all our specimens.

“…In some cases, histopathologic evaluation can be required for diagnostic confirmation. Typical histopathologic characteristics are cyst‐like lesions with a fibrous, cartilaginous, and granulation tissue lining with no epithelium, along with a hyalinizing degeneration of the surrounding cartilage 11‐13 …”

“…Thus, the organizations will make every effort to deploy existing resources and capabilities to maximize performance, and, at the same time, Journal of Management Sciences further develop resources in order to remain competitive, trying to prevent competitors from imitating valuable resources (Teece, Pisano, & Shuen, 1997). Competitive advantage is the ability to grow faster than your competitors with the use of same amount of investment (Ming, Hong, Shuen, & Lim, 2004). The resource based view enlightens the unique aspects of an organization e.g.…”
