“…Prurigo pigmentosa (PP), first introduced by Nagashima in 1971, is a distinct and uncommon dermatosis of unknown etiology 1 . More than 300 patients with PP have been reported in Japan, but only several tens of patients with PP have been reported in the Western world and Korea 2–9 . PP is an inflammatory dermatosis characterized by recurrent pruritic erythematous papules, mainly located on the trunk.…”

“…According to previous studies, males have a lower incidence than females, and most affected women are between the ages of 18 and 27 years, while in men the disease has been reported among those aged 17–64 years [ 7 , 8 ]. In comparison, the youngest female affected with the disease was 11 years old, while the oldest was 37 years old and was the only female patient with PP above 30 years of age reported in Korea [ 9 , 10 ].
