“…We propose a stereotyping based approach to estimate trustworthiness of a potential transaction where the seller is unknown to the buyer, i.e., the buyer has no or little historical information of this seller to study. Our approach builds upon some recent advances: (1) previously proposed StereoTrust and MetaTrust, which utilizes metainformation based stereotypes to estimate trust of a seller whose past behavior is not available, and (2) a web browser plug-in called ProtoTrust [138] In our approach, a buyer estimates trust of the potential transaction, which is conducted by an unknown seller by combining corresponding stereotypes.
