PREFACE
This i s t h e conceptual design r e p o r t f o r t h e c o n s t r u c t i o n of an I n t e r s e c t i n g Storage A c c e l e r a t o r , ISABELLE, t o be l o c a t e d a tBrookhaven National Laboratory. A t t h i s major r e s e a r c h f a c i l i t y beams of protons w i t h e n e r g i e s up t o 400 GeV w i l l be c o l l i d e d i n s i x experimental a r e a s . A t each a r e a p a r t i c l e p h y s i c i s t s w i l l i n s t a l l d e t e c t o r apparatus t o s t u d y t h e i n t e r a c t i o n and r e a c t i o n products f o r such very high energy c o l l i s i o n s . The p r o p o s a l r e s u l t s from s e v e r a l y e a r s of s t u d y and development work on such a f a c i l i t y .
