Proton Magnetic Resonance in Nematic Liquid Crystals — p‐Ethoxybenzal p‐Aminoazobenzene, Acetoxybenzal p‐Phenetidine, and p‐n‐Butoxybenzal p‐Phenetidine
Abstract:Wide line proton resonance spectra of three nematic liquid crystals — p‐Ethoxybenzal p‐Aminoazobenzene, Acetoxybenzal p‐Phenetidine, and p‐n‐Butoxybenzal p‐Phenetidine — were recorded. From the proton line separations and second moment analysis of the spectra, the degree of order “S” had been evaluated and compared. These results confirm that the acetoxy group protons (‐ OCOCH3) are hindered about the O ‐ C bond in the case of acetoxybenzal compounds.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
