Proteomics study on the effect of silybin on cardiomyopathy in obese mice

Abstract: Due to the increase in the number of obese individuals, the incidence of obesity-related complications such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes is higher. The aim of the present study was to explore the effects of silybin on protein expression in obese mice. Firstly, serum was collected, and it was used to detect serum lipids and other serological indicators. Secondly, total protein from epididymal adipose tissue was extracted for differential expression analysis by quantitative tandem mass tag (TMT)… Show more

“…Hydrolyzed proteins are involved in muscle contraction through adenosine triphosphate. Myocardial cytoskeleton proteins are important for maintaining the structural and functional integrity of the myocardium [ 46 ]. However, there are few studies on the changes in cytoskeletal proteins associated with dilated cardiomyopathy.…”

“…The generation of six isoforms, including VEGF111 , VEGF121 , VEGF145 , VEGF165 , VEGF189 , and VEGF206 , from VEGFA mRNA under the alternative splicing process has been reported [ 57 ]. VEGFA and its two receptors, VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2 , play fundamental roles in angiogenesis under physiological and pathological conditions, as well as in neurological and cardiac growth and morphogenesis [ 46 , 58 ]. Disturbance in angiogenesis has been shown to contribute to the development of myocardial interstitial fibrosis in IDCM [ 59 , 60 , 61 , 62 ].…”

“…Myosin Light Chain (2MYL-2) has been proven to play a crucial role in the normal development of ventricular cardiac myocyte structure and function [ 78 ]. Silibinin has been proven to increase the gene expression of these two genes [ 79 ]. The study that described this effect involved obese mice divided in two groups (High fat diet and High fat diet plus silibinin).…”
