Abstract:Primary cilia are microtubule-based, sensory organelles present in growth-arrested cells that play an important role in growth, metabolism, differentiation, and development. Derangement of ciliary structures and activities underlies the pathogenesis of severe genetic disorders, also known as ciliopathies. The primary cilium is formed during G1 phase of the cell cycle and disassembled at the G2/M phase transition. Dynamics of the primary cilium is finely regulated at mul-
