Protective Role of Shenmai Injection on Radiation-Induced Heart Injury

Abstract: Radiation-induced heart injury (RIHI) limits the dose delivery of radiotherapy for thoracic cancer. Shenmai injection (SMI) is reported to have potential cytoprotective properties and is commonly used in cardiovascular diseases. So, we aimed to investigate the potential protective effects of SMI treatment on RIHI. In this study, we established the RIHI model using Sprague-Dawley rats and H9c2 cell line. In vivo, the biochemical assay was used to measure serum cardiac injury- related biomarkers and echocardiogr… Show more

“…Captopril can also improve radiation‐caused cardiopulmonary injury by reducing acute cardiac injury (Ozhan et al., 2021). In addition, Shenmai injection (Xu et al., 2023) and sepiapterin (Rabender et al., 2021) contribute to improving the cardiopulmonary injury caused by radiation. In this study, NG not only improved the tissue damage and fibrosis in RIHD rats, but also inhibited the inflammatory response and lipid peroxidation of the heart.…”
