Protective Effect of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) on High-Fructose and High-Salt Diet-Induced Hypertension: Relevant to Improvement of Renal and Intestinal Function

Abstract: Hypertension has become a leading cardiovascular risk factor worldwide. In this study, we explored the salutary effects and relevant mechanisms of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.), an herbal plant with culinary and medicinal values, on highfructose and high-salt diet (HFSD)-induced hypertension in SD rats. Our results showed that oral administration of coriander (1.0 or 2.0 g/kg•bw) effectively attenuated HFSD-induced elevation of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and mean arterial pressure. … Show more

“…It has been observed that it has an antioxidant protective effect against the oxidation of heavy metals in the kidneys [ 37 ]. Long-term consumption of CS has effects on vascular endothelial function, renal and intestinal sodium absorption, glucolipid homeostasis, and gut microbiota in rats [ 38 ].…”

“…Linear ion trap (LIT) and triple quadrupole (QQQ) scans were obtained using a triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometer (QTRAP; API 6500 Q TRAP LC/MS/MS System) equipped with an ESI Turbo Ion-Spray interface, operated in the positive and negative ion modes and controlled using Analyst 1.6.3 software (Sciex, Toronto, Canada). The ESI source operation parameters were set according to those reported by Wang et al (2022) . Flavonoid data were collected and identified by scheduled multiple reaction monitoring (MRM, New York, NW, USA).…”
