“…Importantly, cordycepin has been shown to attenuate age-related oxidative stress and enhances antioxidant capacity in rats 46 . It has also been shown to prevent rat hearts from ischemia/reperfusion injury partially by activating antioxidant defense 47,48 . Cordycepin represents a promising agent for future potential clinical application.…”

“…Among these natural active compounds, cordycepin has been proved to be an important immunomodulatory active compound which affects the actions of immune cells and cytokine network, it could protect against ischemia–reperfusion‐induced testicular injury. Cordycepin inhibits melanoma cell growth in mice with no adverse effects (Okur et al, ; Wang et al, ; Yoshikawa et al, ; Zhou et al, ). CMP could effectively improve the immune function through protection against oxidative stress, and even could have stronger abilities of hypoglycemic effects than Cordyceps sinensis polysaccharide (Liu et al, ; Zhang et al, ).…”

“…Increasing evidences suggest that mTOR is deeply involved in IR injury of various organs and tissues, including heart, brain, kindey, liver and other organ or tissues [12, 85, 114, 146, 147]. The modulation of mTOR expression appears to be a promising strategy for attenuating IR injury.…”

“…Simvastatin reduces IR injury through the inhibition of mTOR and activation of mitophagy [72]. Testicular IR injury is usually induced by torsion/detorsion, and inhibition mTOR reduces the apoptosis on IR damage in rat testis [15, 146, 147]. Additionally, attenuating Akt/mTOR/ p70S6K pathway reduces kidney inflammation and apoptosis after hepatic IR [18].…”
