“…Caftaric acid, quercetin-3-O-glucoside and kaempferol-3-O-glucoside were the most abundant phenols present in the hydro-alcoholic extracts; in particular, caftaric acid ranged between 24.92±1.50 µg/g (C1) and 74.93±2.27 µg/g (C2). These results are consistent with other studies, reporting that, if compared with fresh grapes, raisins show higher levels of some flavonoids (such as organic acids and flavonols), due to the removal of water during drying [4,17]. It is noteworthy that Portuguese sample was particularly rich in quercetin-3-O-glucoside (21.68±0.91 µg/g) and kaempferol-3-O-glucoside (16.81±0.49 µg/g).…”

“…Applying phytochemicals as antidiabetic drugs was reported. Adam et al () reported that Vitis Vinifera seed aqueous extract expressed a protective role in the pancreas against oxidative stress, inflammation as well as apoptosis‐caused damage, while conserving pancreatic functions in diabetes. El‐Hadary and Ramadan (, ) reported that cold‐pressed oils showed protective effects against carbon tetrachloride‐induced hepatotoxicity in rats.…”

“…The participation of aromatic plants and herbs is enormous to disease prevention (Adam et al, 2016;Almuaigel, Seif, Albuali, Alharbi, & Alhawash, 2017;Assiri, Elbanna, Abulreesh, & Ramadan, 2016;Chahdoura et al, 2017;Rahimi-Madiseh et al, 2017). According to WHO, more than 150 herbs and plants are utilized to treat DM (Hebi, Farid, Ajebli, & Eddouks, 2017).…”

“…Grape seed proanthocyanidins were also effective in rat pancreas intoxicated with cadmium [39]. The treatment with grape seed proanthocyanidins reduced blood glucose level, increased plasma insulin and mitigated oxidative stress-related markers [39,40]. Grape seed proanthocyanidins also protected pancreatic tissue by anti-inflammatory action and inhibiting apoptosis [39,41].…”
