Protection of Ag Clusters by Metal‐Oxo Modules

Abstract: Accordingly, three different types of clusters are summarized:(1) Ag clusters protected by mononuclear oxometallates; (2) Ag clusters protected by block-like metal-oxo clusters; (3) Ag clusters protected by hollow-like metal-oxo clusters. The aim of this concept is to offer possible general guidance and insight into future rational design of more metal-oxo clusters protected silver clusters or even other coinage metal nanoclusters.

“…11 Therefore, POMs can be fascinating components to design molecular hybrids with organic molecules and metal nanoclusters that exhibit unique properties and applications. 12,13 In particular, lacunary POMs can act as inorganic multidentate ligands with abundant reactive oxygen atoms. 14 We recently developed synthetic methods for atomically precise Ag nanoclusters ( e.g.…”

“…9 Moreover, Zhang and his co-workers published a review focusing on Ag clusters protected by oxometallates. 10 These reviews reveal that the arrangements of nanosized silver clusters and MO anions in the crystal structure can account for their synergistic effects. However, there is no comprehensive review summarizing the arrangements of structural configurations in various Ag-MO systems.…”
