Protecting indigenous land from mining : a study of activist representations of indigenous people, in the context of anti-mining movements, with a focus on an Indian case

Abstract

This thesis would not have been possible without the generous support of my promoter and supervisors. I must thank Claudio Minca for inspiring me with his deep and heartfelt commitment to academia and his passion for his work. Martijn Duineveld has been equally inspiring and has dedicated many hours to improving the quality of my work, communicating his insights to me and playing a very supportive role. It is not possible to name all the individuals who have supported me while I worked on my PhD, for the reason that there are too many and for the reason that I don't want to leave anyone out.
