To restore oral function after tumor excision, practitioners must undertake the enormous challenge of restoring hemimandibulectomy deficits. Depending on the type and extent of mandibular reconstruction (Cantor-Curtis classification), there are many prosthetic treatment options available for the rehabilitation of acquired hemimandibulectomy abnormalities. The objective of this systematic study is to evaluate the range of prosthodontic rehabilitation techniques in relation to the kind of repair and severity of mandibular surgical abnormalities. The databases incorporated for literature search were Google Scholar and Medline (PubMed). Relevant search terms for hemimandibulectomy and reconstruction with prosthetic rehabilitation were used. Two reviewers independently assessed the articles using eligibility criteria; published case reports and case series in the English language and depicting prosthodontic treatment modality of patients greater than 13 years were included. A total of 212 records were identified from the database search of which 29 duplicates were removed.The remaining articles were assessed for eligibility, and 50 articles (comprising 50 cases) were finally included in the study. This review identified a number of prosthetic options, including some novel prosthetic techniques, guiding flange, twin occlusion, palatal ramp, conventional to hybrid partial and complete dentures, and implant-supported prosthesis.The prosthetic options covered in this review included implant-supported prosthesis, guide flange, dual occlusion, palatal ramp, conventional, hybrid, and full dentures, as well as a few cutting-edge prosthetic techniques.As they plan and manage sequential therapy for hemimandibulectomy cases in their daily practice, practitioners and prosthodontists will find this helpful.

Hazánk európai szinten első helyen áll a szájüregi daganatok számát tekintve, melyek felismerése legtöbbször meglehetősen későn történik, így sokszor rezektív műtétekre kerül sor. Az ezek eredményeként létrejött állapot helyreállítása komoly feladat, ami csapatmunkát igényel. Ebben a teamben fontos szerepe van a fogorvosnak is. A helyreállító protetika a fogpótlástan egy kevéssé előtérben lévő és a hétköznapokban kevésbé tárgyalt ága, holott a páciensek száma hazánkban a fenti okok miatt európai viszonylatban magasnak mondható, ellátásuk pedig sok tervezést, találékonyságot, egyéni megoldást követel. Ebben a közleményben egy mandibula segment resektión átesett páciens rehabilitációján keresztül szeretnénk bemutatni az ellátás nehézségeit. Ilyen esetekben a műtét során eltávolított mandibula segment hiányából ered az összes kompenzálandó probléma, így ugyanis a rágóizmok tapadása megszűnik, ezáltal húzóerejük hatására malocclusio, nyitáskor pedig egy erős deflexió alakul ki. Ezek kompenzálása dupla fogsoros vagy vezetőfelszínnel rendelkező lemezes fogpótlással lehetséges. Az ellátáshoz ez utóbbit választottuk. A hosszas előkészítést követően, a kivitelezés alatti kisebb problémákat leküzdve, egy orvosi szempontból is megfelelő és a páciens számára is komfortos restaurációt tudtunk készíteni.

OBJETIVO: Establecer los beneficios de una prótesis parcial removible en pacientes sometidos a cirugía maxilar resectiva. MÉTODOS: Se realizó una búsqueda dentro de las bases científicas: Scielo, Pubmed, Google Académico, Contemporary Clinical Dentristy, Journal section: Oral Surgery, usando artículos publicados en los último 5 años, se incluyeron artículos en idioma inglés y español con un total de 49 artículos de los cuales 30 fueron seleccionados de acuerdo a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión para la presente investigación. RESULTADOS: De los 30 artículos analizados 26 corresponden a casos clínicos y 4 artículos científicos. CONCLUSIÓNES: La rehabilitación oral con prótesis parcial removible para la reconstrucción de defectos maxilares en pacientes sometidos a cirugías resectivas, permite una función mejorada y una calidad de vida superior en pacientes tratados adecuadamente, otorgando un restablecimiento de la oclusión funcional y conduciendo a la reintegración en la sociedad. PALABRAS CLAVE: Prótesis dental, rehabilitación bucal, resección mandibular, tumores orales.
