The fracturing of carbonate rocks of the Kashiro-Verey formation in the Volga-Urals region is studied using X-ray tomography and electron microscopy methods. The lithological and structural features of the formation consisting of four lithotypes are described. The lithotypes differ markedly in the degree of clay material, the nature of the void space, and reservoir properties. Two lithotypes are weakly permeable. Experimental modeling of the effect of proppant hydraulic fracturing technology on core samples is applied.It is established that loading affects the interlayers differently depending on their structure and material composition, and the presence of clay and the nature of porosity have the greatest influence. The microcracks of hydraulic fracturing under loading of samples develop to the maximum extent in the densest rocks, in which extended cracks with an opening of about 100 µm or more are formed. In turn, in the permeable part of the lithotypes, extended, usually narrow (thickness less than 20 µm) rectilinear cracks are also formed, oriented in one direction and connecting neighboring microcaverns and pores. Their strict orientation in space reflects the direction of the load on the samples, but may also be partly due to the hidden microlayering of the rocks.The conclusion is made about the possibility of forming through oil migration channels in the reservoir. The results of the experimental study will lead to increasing of the using efficiency of the hydraulic fracturing technology in the operation of the Kashiro-Vereya productive reservoirs.

Survey and novel research data are used in the present study to classify/identify the lithological type of Verey age reservoirs' rocks. It is shown how the use of X-ray tomography can clarify the degree of heterogeneity, porosity and permeability of these rocks. These data are then used to elaborate a model of hydraulic fracturing. The resulting software can take into account the properties of proppant and breakdown fluid, thermal reservoir conditions, oil properties, well design data and even the filtration and elastic-mechanical properties of the rocks. Calculations of hydraulic fracturing crack formation are carried out and the results are compared with the data on hydraulic fracturing crack at standard conditions. Significant differences in crack formation in standard and lithotype models are determined. It is shown that the average width of the crack development for the lithotype model is 2.3 times higher than that for the standard model. Moreover, the coverage of crack development in height for the lithotype model is almost 2 times less than that for the standard model. The estimated fracture half-length for the lithotype model is 13.3% less than that of for the standard model. A higher dimensionless fracture conductivity is also obtained for the lithotype model. It is concluded that the proposed approach can increase the reliability of hydraulic fracturing crack models.

Objectives The article describes a method of detailing the bottom hole part of the well with the identification of drainage zones and subsequent graphical 3D modeling of the pore structure of the productive interval. Procedures A geological and geophysical section of the productive horizon of an oil well was chosen as a natural polygon, for which well logging data and microcomputer tomography of the core are available. Thus, according to well logging data, it was proved that the studied productive part of the section is characterized by a high degree of heterogeneity. At the same time, tomography studies of a full-sized core from the same area made it possible to identify four lithology types of rocks with different features of the pore structure. Conclusions The forecasting technique wasconducted based on the possibilities of 3D modeling (simulation) with a color display of the porosity values within borehole walls. A distinctive feature of this approach is the use of the method of expanding the array of initial data by adding intermediate calculated values. The visualization of the final geological model of the porosity of the well walls is provided by a color 3D image of an enlarged data array, which makes it possible to judge the presence of areas with good or weak fluid flooding in the well walls. Novel According to obtained final model, transverse and longitudinal fluid-conducting "corridors" are determined in the near-wellbore zone, favorable for hydrodynamic movements of natural and artificial fluids.
