“…Millat et al compared the LH score data to the findings of intraoperative cholangiography [9]. Several other predictive scores of CBDS have been proposed based on factors of patient history, clinical examination, laboratory findings, and imaging [27][28][29][30]. Compared to the LH score, they all depend on laboratory findings (Table 4), which makes score calculation more complex and less easy to use.…”

“…Other studies have attempted to identify specific criteria to support a preoperative suspicion of CBDS [19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26]. Some studies have even proposed predictive scores for CBDS [27][28][29][30]. The 2000 Tunisian consensus conference concerning treatment of CBDS proposed the application of the so-called Lacaine-Huguier score (LH score) in order to diagnose asymptomatic CBDS preoperatively [31].…”

“…This was mainly due to the lack of surgical expertise in laparoscopic common duct exploration and reluctance to convert to open surgery. Complex algorithms were developed 11,12 aimed at predicting the presence of occult choledocholithiasis to select those most likely to benefit from preoperative ERCP, yet a significant false-positive rate remained 13 . A combined approach of laparoscopic intraoperative cholangiography with selective postoperative ERCP to avoid unnecessary procedures has since been proposed 14 .…”
