Penelitian ini menganalisis kebijakan pembatasan ekspor nikel Indonesia, sebagai produsen terbesar nikel dunia yang memiliki nilai tukar rendah, dengan pendekatan poskolonialisme. Pemerintah mengeluarkan peraturan ini pada 2019 dengan tujuan meningkatkan hilirisasi, investasi, dan penciptaan lapangan kerja untuk mempromosikan pengolahan dalam negeri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan studi pustaka. Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan untuk secara rinci menggambarkan dan menganalisis kebijakan pembatasan ekspor nikel Indonesia. Pendekatan studi pustaka melibatkan telaah mendalam terhadap literatur-literatur terkait kebijakan ekspor nikel dan kerangka pemikiran postkolonialisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan poskolonialisme Fanon dan Said untuk menganalisis kepentingan Indonesia dan dampaknya. Hasil penelitian ini adalah kebijakan pembatasan ekspor nikel tidak hanya menjadi langkah strategis ekonomi, tetapi juga simbol perang kemerdekaan yang melibatkan perjuangan identitas dan pembebasan mental dari pengaruh kolonial.

Electric-based vehicles (EV) come as an option for the solution over the GHG emissions problem resulting from energy production and transportation. Background. The demand for nickel, as a vital component of the lithium-ion batteries used in EV increases significantly and Indonesia plays a critical role as the owner of the world's largest nickel reserve. While exporting raw materials can increase national income, Indonesia misses out on the opportunity to capture higher value-added benefits from downstream processing and manufacturing. The nickel export ban policy is proposed by the Indonesian government as an effort to encourage the growth of the domestic nickel processing industry and capture higher value from the country’s nickel resources. From the creation of domestic value addition, industrial development, and sustainable resource management, it is hoped that Indonesia will move toward sustainable economic development. Methods. This paper reviewed component required to assess the nickel export strategy for long-term economic growth. We used a straightforward approach, outlining each sustainability principle's underlying objectives and providing justifications for why it should be considered in the nickel sector. By citing justifications for their advantages and justifications for their risks, we analyzed the existing policy. Results and discussions. Indonesia's nickel sector does not comply with sustainability principles and is used as a raw material for electric vehicle batteries, but it may only benefit a few people rather than the general welfare of the community. Conclusion. Therefore, the government's decision to impose a ban on nickel exports is correct, but it must be accompanied by efforts to improve both in terms of technology and policies regarding natural resource management. To control the power inclination to ensure sustainability and equality that sustainable natural resource management promotes, further study of the political component is required.

Indonesia is one of the mineral rich developing countries in the world. Indonesia has a large quantity of mineral resources such as natural oil and gas, hard minerals (metallic, non metallic/industrial mineral, coal, and stone), because it is located in the Pacific ring of fire. Mineral and energy commodities have always been giving contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Indonesia besides doing regional development, because of its potential mineral resources. Trade of mineral commodity aims is to gain from trade of mineral to increase economic growth through Balance of Trade (BOT). Mineral commodity markets have been volatile for a long time. The trends of mineral commodity prices have been fluctuated and recently it changed dramatically due to commodity prices to increase within only several years. The aims of this study are to comprehend recent contribution of mining sector to Indonesian economy 1990Indonesian economy -2014 and to analyze forecasting of mineral commodity future prices until 2025. The price trends of commodity mineral is increasing from time to time, but sometimes decreasing because of world crisis, scarcity, and other problems in the world related to mining, trade, and relationship between countries, such as fundamentals matter, including long-run demand growth, technical change that opens up new sources of supply, changes that transform the operation of financial markets, and macro-economic shocks, etc. Mining sector contribute about 6-12% of Indonesian Gross Domestic Product and increasing from time to time. Contribution of mining includes trade of mineral commodity, regional development by companies, etc. It is shown that mining is important for Indonesian economy. Methodology applied in this paper is data analysis using dynamic commodity and macroeconomic models and forecast using linear and polynomial regression with its trend line.
