“…Thirdly, during dye installation the airways were continuously observed fiberoptically. As leakage of the fluid seal has been observed in 2% (Evans et al [12]) and 5% (this study) the latter protocol may represent a potentially safer approach in order to avoid accidental aspiration of dye.…”

“…Evens et al instilled stained saline into the drainage tube of the PLMA in order to investigate the ability of the device to protect the airway against fluids [12]. We combined the dye instillation through the drainage tube with a modification of the method previously described by Lallo et al who stained the gastric contents with methylene blue [13].…”

“…an additional drain tube running parallel to a reinforced airway tube. This permits access to gastrointestinal tract and aids nasogastric tube (NTG) insertion which isolates alimentary tract from respiratory tract & hence provides additional protection against regurgitation 4 .The double cuff provides a better seal around the glottis at lower mucosal pressures, thus providing an option of administering intermittent positive pressure ventilation. The built-in bite-block reduces the chances of damage to the device by inadvertent biting by the teeth of the patient and danger of obstruction.…”

“…Laryngeal mask airway (LMA) Proseal is the modification of LMA classic and has been extensively studied. [ 1 2 ] Laryngeal tube suction (LTS) is a newer version of the laryngeal tube that was introduced mainly for prehospital emergencies. [ 3 4 ] It shares certain features of Proseal LMA, i.e., esophageal suction port for gastric decompression.…”
